This project involves the full refurbishment of a terraced house in Balham including a loft conversion and rear wraparound extension.
The original kitchen of this property suffered from low ceilings and a lack of natural light, so to solve this issue the floor level of the new open plan kitchen dining and living area has been excavated below ground to create a feeling of openness. Minimalist sliding doors provide a visual connection to the garden, while a large glass roof connects the front living spaces to the new extension and brings natural light into the middle of the house. A stripped back material palette including polished concrete floors and natural timber is punctuated by bursts of colour to bring the space to life. Externally, stepped landscaping and a green wall make the most of the modestly sized garden.
Project Scope: Wrap-around Extension, Loft Conversion, Full Reconfiguration & Refurbishment Throughout.
Architectural Services Requested: Concept (Briefing & Survey), Planning (Application & Scheme Design), Visualisation (3D Modelling), Technical (Building Control and Detailing), Specification (Interior Architecture and Schedules), Interior Design (Furniture, Fittings & Equipment), Tendering (Prices and Builders).
